The first meeting of the Fiano grape with the fertile Irpinian hills dates back hundreds of years ago, definitely in the Classic Age, when it was named Vitis Apiana, (the Latin for “vine of the bee”) because bees adored its sweet fruits (Plinio, Columella); yet, another possible etymology of the name Apianum, is the ancient town Apia (now Lapio), the Irpinian village in which the first vines were planted.
Vine of superior quality, over the past centuries, as shown by official documents of the court of Federico II and Carlo d’Angiò, is now grown in 26 small communes in the province of Avellino, it currently has a spectacular success in the panorama of world enology.
Fiano di Avellino DOCG Torrevigne is a wine rich in aromas, fine, elegant scents, floral and flagrant. Happy combination of acidity and finesse, it is a pleasant pre-dinner and matches perfectly with seafood appetizers, fish dishes, pasta based first courses and meat in delicate sauces.
