Montemiletto

Lying on the ridge straddling the valleys of Calore and Sabato, 650m above sea level, Montemiletto is named after the Latin Mons Militu, the "Mount of the Soldier". With its 5,440 inhabitants it has a history that dates back to the early Middle Ages. The ancient Castle of the Lioness with the adjacent arch, gateway to the town square, the stone alleyways, the churches, the charming St. Anne cloister are some of the attractions. Its land, consisting of clays and limestone with sandy substrates, rich in magnesium and exchangeable potassium, donate to the wines intensity of perfumes, structure and balance. Given these conditions, Montemiletto is one of the esteemed areas selected for the production of Taurasi DOCG.
