Prata Principato Ultra

Prata Principato Ultra is a nice village in the province of Avellino, which stands on a hill overlooking the river Sabato. With its 3,000 inhabitants, about 310m above sea level, it is an oasis of peace and clean air, surrounded by nature. Its name derives from the Latin Pratum which later became Prata Principato Ultra. The historic Basilica dell’Annunziata with the adjoining catacombs and the old houses with beautiful stone portals, although restored after the earthquake of 1980, bear witness to its ancient past. This village, thanks to its limestone soil, composed by substrates of ochre deposit, volcanic ash and volcanic debris, is one of the eight esteemed territories selected for the production of the Greco di Tufo DOCG.
